Chappel Upright
Kawai Grand Piano

Saved from disposal after a house clearance; now used for composition and community projects at St Mary's Church, Hendon.

Not so long ago, pianos were woven into everyday life in Britain. They stood in living rooms and parlours, gathering families around them for songs, lessons, celebrations and quiet evenings at home. They were played, listened to, and passed from one generation to the next.

Today, many of those same instruments sit silent in empty houses, churches, schools and storage units, often forgotten or destined to be discarded.

Rescuing Pianos is about finding these instruments, preserving their stories, and placing them back into the hands of musicians, students and communities—so that instead of being thrown away, they can continue to make music.
